Took a sidetrip from Chiang Mai to the Doi Inthanon National park also known as the Rooftop of Thailand. At the top of its highest peak is a shrine to the last king of Chiang Mai (before Chiang Mai became a part of Siam/Thailand) and a large sign marking the altitude. The sign is the perfect place for a picture to prove you really made it. Just past the shrine and marker is a trail heading off into the forest for the intrepid hiker who wants to walk to Mt. Everest. A very long journey and too long for me.
Altitude in Feet: 8500
