The sign behind the locomotive reads:
"This steam locomotive was presented to the Charlotte Park and Recreation Commission in 1959 by the Seaboard Air Line Railroad Company and placed here as a permanent exhibit in memory of the important service engines of this type rendered the country. Built in 1920, it was retired from active duty on the Gainesville Midland Railroad in Georgia and was one of the last steam locomotives in regular service in this part of the country."
