From the city website: Naples is considered by many to be the crown jewel of Southwest Florida. With its subtropical climate tempered by the soft breezes from the Gulf of Mexico, people are struck by its natural beach beauty and the flora and fauna that are unparalleled in any community. In addition to its natural features, the City of Naples is known for its world class shopping, exceptional dining opportunities and abundance of challenging golf courses. The community is often considered to have a resort lifestyle. The City of Naples is located on the Gulf of Mexico in Southwest Florida, and it is the cultural and activity center of Collier County. Still the City is less than 20 miles away from the tropical wilderness of the Florida Everglades. Naples was incorporated on December 1, 1923. It is approximately 14 square miles in size and has 106.3 miles of streets. Naples has a full-time population of approximately 22,000. However, from November to May the population swells to over 33,500, as part-time residents migrate from all parts of the world.
