This outhouse sits in the back yard behind a small house where Herbert Hoover lived and played as a child. Herbert Hoover was born in 1874. He was the 31st President and served from March 4, 1929 - March 4,1933. He was the first President to be born West of the Mississippi River.
This outhouse, along with his home, his father’s blacksmith shop, the Hoover Presidential Library, and the gravesite for him and his wife, are located on the grounds of the Herbert Hoover National Historic Site operated by the U.S. National Park Service.
