One of a series of reference monuments authorized in 1906 by the International Waterways Commission to be used to establish the position of the boundary between the USA and Canada. Described as the frustrum of a cone with a hemispherical top and having a brass plug in the top, each of the markers was cast with a unique number in the concrete.
