When the township razed the Erlton School in 1978, they decided to leave one remnant of the school, the concrete markers for the gender separated entrances to the school. Other than a marker, this is the only evidence that a school was once here.

I recently moved around the corner, and is true for all waymarkers, I wanted to explore my new surroundings, which as it seems, are ripe for new waymarks. The first thing I noticed was two huge concrete tablets designating a boys entrance and a girls entrance and naturally, this category immediately came to mind. We once had a school here and although it was demolished in 1978, the township, for some reason, decided to keep this as an artifact of the erstwhile school.
There is also a "historical marker" which commemorates the opening of the school. I am quite sure it once hung on the inside wall of the school, but was eventually removed and put on a stand for outside viewing. All of our schools have similar plaques. The area is now a huge park with tennis, hockey, soccer, softball, basketball, two playgrounds, a gazebo and many other amenities.
