Dr. Tainter was born Oct 13, 1760 in Westborough Massachusetts. He enlisted Dec 1776 at the age of sixteen as a drummer in Colonel Sparhawk's Massachusetts regiment. For the next three years he served in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, Vermont, and New Jersey. After the war he practiced medicine for about thirty years. In 1839 he moved to Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin Territory. He died July 11, 1847 at the age of 86. Later his grandson moved him to Evergreen Cemetery, Menomonie.
