We found this thinking that there may indeed be some kind of benchmark in the town square. We were right!

This mark is in excellent condition. I think it must have been put in at the time the Veterans Memorial was installed. I noticed that this mark is indeed in the exact center of town. An observer will note that the centerlines of both roads leading into the square intersect on the marker!
