Long before most of the really showy flowers bloom, entire fields of henbit turn reddish-purple with its flowers. It is an important nectar and pollen plant for bees, especially honeybees, where it helps start the spring buildup. Individually it is quite inconspicuous but combined with other henbit, it can be quite breath taking. It is an annual and its blooming is quite short lived.
Species: Henbit Lamium amplexicaule
