This bridge links Brattleboro, Vermont, with Hinsdale, New Hampshire, and carries NH Route 119 over one channel of the Connecticut River.

The Hinsdale Bridge (as it is also called, since the state line hugs the Vermont river bank) is on the site of an old bridge crossing. According to the source web site, below (Connecticut River Joint Commissions), there was a crossing as early as 1804 by the Hinsdale Bridge and Sixth New Hampshire Turnpike Corporation. The bridge was apparently replaced many times, since the source cited (Hinsdale, NH: Bicentennial Committee: 1976) said that bridges here have "been carried away, by floods and ice, on the average of once in every ten years." Skipping ahead, on the present location of the current bridge, there was a Pennsylvania truss bridge, known as Liscom's Bridge, in 1903. The present bridge was built in 1920, also a Pennsylvania truss type. It was designed by John Storrs and built by the American Bridge Company.

This crossing is unusual since there is an island in the middle. This bridge is the western crossing, while another truss, a 200-foot Parker type, is the eastern crossing (did not see - the island blocks the view from either Brattleboro or the Brattleboro - Hinsdale Bridge).

There is a pedestrian walkway that runs along the north (up river) side of the bridge. There are nice views of the river and Brattleboro along the walkway.

There is a parking lot at the Riverview Cafe right next to the west end of the bridge, or on a gravel area prior to the bridge (watch out for the railroad tracks, though, they are active).
