The Church of Christ congregation was founded in 1896 when an acre of land was purchased for $75. The church was constructed by John B. Thomas, who resides in the far corners of the cemetery with his family.
The Pelham Church of Christ was nearly abandoned in the destructive wake of the Great Depression until a tent revival by traveling evangelist Adolphus Rollins in 1939 brought hope back to the people of Pelham. Rev. A.C. Willis took over the Church and reestablished it as the cornerstone of Southeast Tennessee country life in Pelham.
