October 4, 1930 - ground breaking and laying of cornerstone. The library was named as an Illinois Historic Structure in 1972. It was also the first building in Riverside to be designated a Riverside Landmark. April 1997 - Riverside Public Library building used for the taping of The Oprah Winfrey Show book discussion.
