Long Description:"The historic development of the Columbia Cemetery in Boone County
follows the growth and prosperity of Columbia itself and is the
final resting place of many of the community's most prominent
citizens. Established as a small common burial ground in 1821, the
site grew over the next 100 years to encompass not only the
original grounds and early expansions but also the Elmwood Cemetery
(est. 1914), and the Beth Olem Cemetery (est. 1880). In addition to
thousands of historic markers, the cemetery also contains a
Romanesque Revival style mausoleum and a relatively rare example of
a stone receiving vault constructed in 1887." ~ State of Missouri
