Embedded in the top of a 1x1 foot sq. historic survey stone. I've listed the stone with its historic significance under "US Historic Survey Stones and Monuments".

These benchmarks were placed in the top of many of the 1881 stones in 1995, with the exceptions of the stones offset 25 feet from the state line or those in areas where the marks were not needed. (Or missed by the 1995 survey, perhaps?)
