The lighthouse was built in 1893, is approximately 21 metres high and consists of six floors. The lighthouse was in service as coastal lighting up to 1974. Now there is a permanent exhibition on the history of lighthouses, lighthouse models, lamp changers, propane gas lanterns, a radio beacon, photographic material, and buoys. From the highest point in the lighthouse you have a superb view over Hoek van Holland.
