Opened in 1962 to showcase the collection of Joseph F. Lizzadro, Sr., the Lizzadro Museum of Lapidary Art displays wonderful carvings of jade, onyx, agate, and many other materials.
Vases, snuff bottles, cameos, and incense burners can be found in the collection, however puzzle balls are my favorite. Puzzle balls are a spherical piece of jade which is carved to have layers of free spinning spheres within the original sphere. Each layer is also intricately carved with a theme.
Also within the museum is an area dedicated to the raw materials. Displays of birthstones, gems and even fossils can be found.
