This vermin trap is situated on the South east side on Gutter Tor, it is easy to find as part of it is on the path from Gutter Tor to Ditsworthy. It is a fine example of a vermin trap with it's cover stone still in place.
These traps were used to catch weasels and stoats which were the main predators of the rabbit, they were caught in traps which funneled them into a small granite tunnel (usually 1m x 0.5m), and then secured them there with slate shutters, triggered to drop when the animal entered the trap.
