Long Description:The City of Federal Way's "Red, White and Blues Festival" takes
place at Celebration park, across the street from the Federal Way
Commons Mall.
The festival is all day long on July 4th and includes live music
from local music groups, dancing, kids activities, and at 10:15pm,
great fireworks.
We've been to Seattle and Tacoma's big firework spectaculars and
actually prefer this venue. The difference is that rather than
being shot off from a barge out in the middle of the lake, these
are shot off not that far away. It's loud, but the fireworks are
big, beautiful and right overhead. In fact, you have to watch for
pieces of falling burning paper at times depending on where you're
sitting in the park (just adds to the excitement :).
We arrive early for good spots and bring blankets, lawn chairs,
snackes and thermoses full of hot cocoa or coffee. Then we kick
back and play games and chat with friends for a couple of hours
until the show starts. All in all it's a very fun evening.
