Long Description:The Hall of State building was constructed in 1935-36 for the Texas
Centennial Exposition. It is regarded as an excellent example of
Art Deco architecture.
The detail on the building is beautiful and the front door is no
exception. It is decorated with a grid of symbols representing the
agriculture and industry of Texas. The symbols include horses shown
with spurs, cows shown with rattlesnakes, a hoof surrounded by a
coil of rope, a water wheel, a circle of wheat with an insect in
the center, a pine cone in the center of a sawblade.
