Reinhardt College is a private four year liberal arts United Methodist college. It was founded in 1883 in Waleska, Georgia.
The bells are located in a memorial park on campus. The pathway leading to it is paved with bricks containing the names of past graduates.
The main structure is the Bratton Carillon Tower and features four bells. Erected in 1985, each bell is dedicated to an individual. A plaque gives the names, but does not explain the significance of each person. Dr. Bratton served as president of Reinhardt from 1927-1944. Mrs. Bratton headed the music department for most of this period.
Websters Dictionary describes Carillon as "A set of fixed chromatically tuned bells sounded by hammers controlled from a keyboard"
A separate brick memorial stands alongside the tower with a single bell, known as The College Bell. "This bell hung near Witham Hall from 1912-1950 and summoned generations of Reinhardt students to chapel, classes and quarters."
