In 1873, small wooden lighthouse marked the mouth of Olcott Creek in New York. The light stood at the end of a pier until 1930, when it was discontinued and moved to a local yacht club. The old tower was demolished in 1963.

n 2003, the Olcott Lighthouse Society built a replica of the lighthouse using old photos and $6000 in private donations. The lighthouse was completed in June 2003. As of April 2004, there are plans to put a small unofficial lantern in the tower and convert the interior into a small museum
