The second Cameron County Courthouse, a simple Beaux-Arts building with four identical facades, was designed in 1912 by San Antonio architect Atlee B. Myers. Rather plain from the outside, inside is a distinctive (and beautiful) stained glass dome.

Hidden from view by the parapet wall, at the center of the roof, is a dome filled with stained glass. Inside, corridors lead from each of the four entrances to the rotunda lit by sunlight filtering through the dome. The courthouse was restored, both inside and out, for use by the Cameron County Commissioner’s Court in 2006.
