According to the
Mount Dora Lawn Bowling Club website:
"The Mount Dora Lawn Bowling Club is located in central Florida in the charming city of Mount Dora. Mount Dora is a few miles north of Orlando and is situated at the eastern end of Lake Dora. The Club is on Edgerton Court which is only a couple of short blocks from the center of town down by the lake."
"We have fourteen hard surface lawn bowling rinks where we bowl Monday through Saturday in the morning. Depending upon the time of the year, we also bowl in the afternoon, October to April, and in the evening, April to October."
"The Club is fundamentally a social bowling Club but hosts a number of tournaments for the more competitive Club members. In addition to bowling, there are numerous social events during the course of the year. The Club also sponsors bridge games twice a week, art classes during the late winter, early spring, Mah Jongg weekly as well as eucher and bunco games. The annual dues include all the green fees, the social events (except the Annual Banquet), bridge and the art classes."
"Spectators are always welcome. Most of the time a member will be available to help explain the game to visitors. It is easy to tell if the games are social events or a tournament. If all the players are dressed in white, the games are part of a tournament. Normally, the players wear their everyday street clothes to bowl socially."
"In order to join the Club you must know how to bowl. The Membership Committee conducts lessons on both how to bowl and the proper etiquette of the game several times each year. For the most part, the lessons are conducted in the mornings from 9 AM to 11 AM Monday through Friday for two consecutive weeks. The lessons are free and a person completing the course is not obligated to join the Club."
"The Club is a member of the Southeastern Division of the United States Lawn Bowls Association and participates in activities sponsored by the North Central Florida League."
