Charles Brouse, Captain - Indianapolis IN - Medal Of Honor Resting Places on Waymarking.com

Charles W Brouse was a captain in Company K of the 100th Indiana regiment in the American Civil War. He enlisted at Indianapolis. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for actions at Missionary Ridge on November 25, 1863. The citation for his Medal of Honor reads as follows:

"To encourage his men whom he had ordered to lie down while under severe fire, and who were partially protected by slight earthworks, himself refused to lie down, but walked along the top of the works until he fell severely wounded".

Captain Brouse would recover from his wounds, but was discharged after a lengthy recovery. He was not presented the Medal of Honor until May 16, 1899.

He died in 1904 and is buried in section 7 of the Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis.
