This unusual granite guide post is situated at the junction of the old Callington to Tavistock turnpike road with the road to Horsebridge.
The guidepost shows the directions toward Horsebridge to the left and Tavistock to the right.
The guidepost may have been erected when the new turnpike road to Tavistock via Gunnislake was built in the late 18th century. Originally the route went via Horsebridge.
