Located at 2255 Baseline Rd. on the grounds of the Grand Island Town Hall, this sign greets visitors to the town who have exited I-190 via Whitehaven Rd. Grand Island has been inhabited for centuries. Even before the arrival of whites, the area was in habited by Native Americans and the Seneca name for the island was "Ga-Wa-Not" or Great Island.
