This small B & B departs from the usual and provides the guest with a glimpse into the past from a different perspective. Instead of being located in a small house or other structure of this type, Main Street Bed and Breakfast is located on the second floor of one of the old buildings fronting Main Street in downtown Fredericksburg. If what you are looking for is "country quaint", this may not be your best choice.

Two of the eight rooms are located at the front of the building, and are directly over the small shops which occupy the front half of the first level of the building. While Main Street may have eighteen wheel semi trucks driving down it rather than the ox teams of earlier days, the chance to sit out on the balcony across from the newly restored Nimitz Hotel Building can certainly impart a sense of by-gone days.

With its ivy covered walls, off street parking, the possibility of enjoying a full breakfast served to your suite and eaten while sitting on the balcony overlooking Main Street, the large pool to the rear of the property, or just relaxing watching people walk pass below you, it can be a special place.

I'd also be remiss in not mentioning that one of the greatest museums focusing on World War II is directly across the street. And of course for those other meals, you have the wonderful German food found in many of the many restaurants in town.

The town of Fredericksburg has dozens and dozens of B & B's, giving you the opportunity to choose whatever type of accomodations please you, if you like being right in the middle of town, Main Street B & B is a good choice. Their only restrictions are, no smoking or pets.

While we have never stayed at this B & B, we have noticed the guests out on the balcony having a great time, leading us to think it is definitely worth staying at.
