An elongated figure of a nude woman with her arms outstretched above her head holding a six-foot-diameter hoop. Inscription on front of base reads: "Gift of James G. Forsyth, 1962, Spirit of Womanhood by Griffis."

The rising vertical character suggest the feeling of aspiration. The hoop is symbolic of the world, eternity, and the cycle of life. The sculpture is dedicated to Marian de Forest, founder of Zonta International.
