The Palatka Mall now some 20 years later never materialized to the full potential or dreams it shared for the community.With the development of the Mall on the outskirts of town the community moved west and away from the downtown business area. After a time the mall struggled to find regular clients for its stores and has since become a quasi-goverment service center. The mall still has some stores to include a Dollar General, 2 jewelery stores, a movie cienma, a few clothing stores as well as anchor stores of Goody's and a JC Pennys but the biggest part of the mall is government offices. Tax Collector, Unmployment Office, Military Recruiters and a few others.
The Mall interior has been renovated 2 or 3 times to reflect it's new nature. It currently has a central courtyard with a water fountain and planters as it's centerpiece.
