According to the signboard, 39 acres was deeded to the City of Camas by the Crown Willamette Paper Company. "The Old City Park" became a favorite place for residents to picnic ad enjoy the outdoors. An additional 12 acres was donatd by Clark County in 1992 bringing the total amount of park land to 51 acres.Today, this area is known as "Lacamas Creek Park." The park has been preserved as a permanent open space for the citizens of Camas in an effort to protect our natural resources while enhancing recreational opportunities.
Lacamas Lake Trail is six/tenths of a mile long and follows Lacamas Creek. Beyond is a 325 acre county park with additional hiking trails. One of the trails that connects to the Lacamas Lake Trail will take you along the west side of the Round Lake over the dam and past the informational signboard to the Round Lake Trailhead (N 45 36.210 W 122 24.404). Total length of hike: a little over a half mile plus 1.2 miles around Round Lake. Plan on a couple hours to hike to Round Lake erratic, dam, signboard, playground, picnic area, restrooms (in summer only), and back. Plenty of parking at both trailheads.
