Althought this area of the Ozarks has been occupied since pre-historic time(10,000 BC) with the Llano Indians this little town has all but dwindled away into oblivion except for a few of the falling in structures most of which are completly on the ground.
Mano means hand or handstone used by the Indians to grind corn the other part is called the Metate'.
It is now listed as Cato.
There is no population within the Old Mano area.
Class U6: Identifies a populated place located wholly or substantially outside the boundaries of any incorporated place or CDP with an authoritative common name recognized by the U.S. Geological Survey.
Most of the areas houses were either Log cabins or Stone houses.
This one has the more eloborate stone coverings.
I live just west of here a few miles and come by this way ever once and a while and thought I would add it to our list.
This is really an awesome area but there is nothing around for miles to make a good living so I guess like all things we must move on.
As always have fun be safe and
