Cape May County Park North - Totem Pole Refurbished
Carving project at Cape May County Park North - carvers repaired and repainted the totem pole that was carved at the park many years ago. The wood carving group “Birds of a Feather” repaired and repainted the totem pole at the entrance to the Richard Cameron Wildlife Sanctuary. The totem pole was originally carved in 1991 as a community service project under the direction of famed carver Harry Shourds. The Birds of a Feather Carvers meet at the Upper Township senior center every Monday evening at 6p.m. Visitors and new members are always welcome. Harry Shourds and Joe “Spotted Eagle” Walton were also two of the original carvers that worked on the project in the early 90’s.
