Carlisle Law Courts have not changed externally. Their surrounding approaches have been improved for modern traffic. Two old photos, both looking north across Court Square.

In the older photograph, the principal transport was horse drawn carriage. Probably local hotels looking for passing trade disembarking from the trains behind the photographer.

The slightly younger photograph has motor cars in 1925. The modern photograph is taken in 2007.

The modern location is still the main entrance to Carlisle train station. Cars now park in this little space, rather than pick up fares.

Date of older picture estimated. Slightly younger photograph 1925.
Year photo was taken: 1900 and 1925
