I traveled The Oregon Trail with an Elderhostel group from Kansas City/Independence, Missouri to Oregon City, Oregon June 13-28, 2007. We traveled through the Blue Mounains on Tuesday, June 26.More than three months travel by covered wagons from Independence, Missouri and other "Jumping-off places" found the Oregon emigrants in the Blue Mountains. The most dangerous part of the 2,000 mile trek was ahead--the treacherous Columbia River or the steep, possibly snow covered Barlow Road traversing the south slopes of Mount Hood.
Instructions for logging waymark: A photograph is required of you (or your GPS receiver, if you are waymarking solo) and the covered wagon at Blue Mountain Crossing.
