On the Heron Hill estate is a community centre and pub. Across the road is a slate Millennium monument, and a brick mosaic of a heron. Both were installed for the Millennium. The plaque has symbols of Kendal on it in a ceramic picture.

A bit of a heron theme around here as the pub is called The Heron, it's on Heron Hill, and the plaque contains two herons. Next to it is a mosaic of a heron in brick pavers.

The monument has a ceramic tile picture on it with images of Kendal and Heron Hill. In the centre is Kendal's coat of arms - teasels and bale hooks from the wool and cloth trade, which was the basis for much of Kendal's fortunes.

Rolling hills lead up to the castle, while herons are busy fishing either side. The strange looking bugs are the endangered white-clawed cray fish, found in the local streams. Sheep graze the hills and fish swim in the river.

The monument is in a landscaped open area adjacent to a local cycle track through the estate.
