This Northeastern Standard caboose was built in 1942 & was pressed into service with the Reading Railroad (which merged into Conrail in 1976). It is also a bit unusual as it was built during a relatively short time period (1942-1945) where cabooses were constructed of wood, which saved steel for military purposes during World War II.
