Inside the Astronaut Memorial Hall is the International Hall of Space Explorers, which includes an area dedicated to the Space Shuttle Challenger crew. The memorial includes a painting of the Challenger crew hanging next to a plaque that reads: "In Memoriam. Dedicated to the memory of crew members of STS 51-L who lost their lives aboard Space Shuttle Challenger when the mission exploded January 28, 1986 in the sky above Kennedy Space Center.
