The inscription reads.
WINDERMERE PARISH COUNCIL
MILLENNIUM
2000 A.D.
STONE
The Windermere Chronicles are
placed nearby to be opened
in 2100 A.D.
It is a large slab of rough faced Westmorland slate with polished area for the inscription. The area is paved with raised beds.
The monumental mason is G. Greaves, Troutbeck Bridge. The slate came via Kirkstone Gallery, paving from Bowland Stone, local blacksmith Thomas Bland made the capsule.
The decorative stone walling was done by Andrew Loudon, a local waller. (
