Engine 28's firehouse was built in 1897 and originally housed a horse-drawn pumper. In 1932, they received a motorized fire truck to replace the horses, and as a result the station's facilities were upgraded to include a kitchen and recreation room. These complimented the existing dorm facilities upstairs from when the station was built.
