WALKER, (2,000 alt, 110 pop.), is a tiny German-Russian settlement built
about QUEEN ANNE'S CHURCH (Roman Catholic), a limestone structure of modified
Gothic design, which serves as the center of spiritual and social life for the
frugal and industrious farmers of the surrounding wheat area.
The church called St. Ann's Catholic Church continues to serve as the center
of activity for the small community of Walker. The Church was
constructed beginning in 1904 and completed in 1905. The St. Anne Parish
was begun in 1903 however it is now operated on the St. Fidelis parish in
Victoria, Kansas. The St. Ann's Catholic Church has one mass each Sunday
at 7:45 am.
