Westside Regional Park, recently renamed Tillie K. Fowler Regional Park, is part of the City of Jacksonville's parks system; the 500+ acre land is on loan from NAS Jacksonville. The park features miles of trails for hiking and biking, a playground, picnic tables, pavilions, a nature center, and lots of parking.
At the end of the Tower trail is the lookout tower. The trail out consists of hardpacked dirt and a few boardwalks, but its an easy walk or ride. The tower is at the end of the longest boardwalk, looking out over pine & oak forest, and is at the edge of a swampy area. Water levels will depend on recent rains of course. Wildlife is quite varied, but its a nice spot to watch for birds.
