This border crossing is located on Bird Island (more often a peninsula) at the extreme NE end of South Carolina & the S tip of North Carolina.
The border here is marked by a benchmark just beyond the first dune line. Bird Island (which at most times of the year is actually connected to the beach on the NE) extends into SC for a few hundred feet - leaving this section of SC "landlocked".
The easiest way to reach this spot is to travel to Sunset Beach, NC & park at the pier area at the end of S. Sunset Blvd. From here it's a 2.25 mile walk SW along a very nice beach to the border and boundary benchmark - and an enjoyable geocache nearby!
