The Silver Lake Institute sits on the east bank of Silver Lake. It was founded in the late 1800's as a Methodist Assembly camp for Bible study and spiritual training. The central feature of the historic district was Epworth Hall, a social and religious centerpiece of the Institute which still stands today (also included on the National Register of Historic Places).
