A statue of a soldier in uniform stands on a plinth with panels inscribed with the names of those from Kendal who died in the Great War. There are a lot of names for a fairly small town, with panels on all the sides of the monument. The monument says it was "erected by their fellow townsmen."
It also includes a small plaque along a bottom edge remembering the 2nd World War, and on the back has one with a single name from the Korean War.
It is generally well kept up and forms the focus of the annual remembrance parade and ceremony.
