Jekyll Island is a small barrier island on Georgia's southeast coast. Once a winter retreat for the very wealthy, it is now a quiet oceanfront vacation spot.
At the north end of the island is the Jekyll Island Fishing Pier, a nice spot to drop a line, or just admire the view toward the ocean or nearby St. Simon's Island. The pier is a concrete structure, with some parts offering shade. The barnacles on the pilings make this a popular spot for sheepshead in the winter. Parking is available in a nearby paved lot, and several picnic tables and grills are close by, as well.
The pier itself is free to use, but visitors to the island must pay a $3.00 per vehicle parking fee when they cross over onto the island.
