Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame is a place to honor Wisconsin's sports figures. This includes not only the famous athletes (both amature and professional), but many others who made other important contributions to athletics in Wisconsin.
The Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame began in 1951 with the opening of the old MECCA Center.
By 1995, the old facility began to run out of room for all the plaques. A decision was made to transfer the plaques outdoors for all to enjoy. The new Walk of Fame opened in 2001. During the warmer months, it includes an interactive kiosk to allow visitors to learn more about the inductees.
