This milestone is on Shooters Hill. It indicates distance like any other milestone: "8 miles to London Bridge" on one face and "7 miles to Dartford" on another.
However, on a third face has been attached a memorial plate to commemorate the Battles of Ypres in the First World War.
The milestone is indicated by a digit "8" on the Ordnance Survey one-inch map of the area dated 1805 (see map, with red arrow).
A little more information is available at the Public Monument and Sculpture Association National Recording Project

The milestone is in the grounds of Christ Church, Shooter's Hill.
Shooters Hill Road is part of the Roman road
Watling Street that ran from Dover to London and thence onwards to Wroxeter. The area was once notorious for highwaymen.
