At the old Bonner observatory Mr. Argelander created a method to collected the data and published in 1863 the catalogue "Bonner Durchmusterung" (BD) that included 324,198 stars.

The observatory has been closed in 1973, other faculties take use of the buldings. The building "Refraktorium" is the Home of the association of amateur astronoms of Bonn.
The office of the association is open to public every monday from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm (exclusive holidays), followed by observations at seasonal possibility.
Visit Instructions:Note the time of day of your visit, and your own photo of your favorite part of the observatory. This might be the view from the observatory, picture of your favorite building or favorite exhibit. (Be mindful of flash photography rules!)
