The hump/wave shaped building is named after Victor Civitas, a Brazilian philanthropist and publisher.
The library contains: 30.000 books, 650 newspaper titles, 1050 art pamphlets, 280 CD-roms, 330 CDs, 2500 tapes, 2180 VHS and 60 DVDs.
The memorial was built in 1989 to celebrate the history and struggle of Latin America. Besides the library, the space also has galleries and auditoriums.
The library is open 9-18 on weekdays and 9-15 on Saturdays.
