Pico Bejenado 1854m is really worth the effort to climb it. And it is accessible to everyone who is fit. The ascent - good 700m - takes about 2 hours, the descent almost the same. On the top you will feel like an eagle.

Pico Bejenado 1854m
Mountain walk to La Palmas only "real" mountain summit. Bejenado is overlooking Caldera de Taburiente (Isla de La Palma - Canarias). From the top of Bejenado is one of the most inspiring views out over the caldera.

Starting point for the climb
Car to/from El Barrial, above Valencia. Turn off the El Paso/Santa Cruz road for La Combrecita (at the National Park Visitor Centre). Keep straight on at the first junction but, shortly after, turn left for Valencia. Sign: "Bejenado". Keep ahead on the road and park your car almost at the end of the tarmac road. Or if you are not afraid of driving on a bumpy road continue until the road again becomes tarmac. There is a small parking area where the walk to the top of Bejenado starts. N 28º 40.681 W 17º51.240.

The climb
If you continue to the small parking area mentioned above, you will find yourself as shown on the map below. I can recommed following the blue line to the top and the red down. On the way up you can chose a little detour to view some old stone carvings. Start as early as possible because clouds often cover Bejenado after 12 o'clock.

Map can be seen on the car park.
